It is four years since George married to Eliza Augusta Waller. They are living on Tadworthy Road in North Devonshire - a beautiful rural area.
He is 42 and signs the census as GO Bigge Major Royal Engineers. It notes his Punjab birth and that he is British by parentage. Eliza, of course, was born in Dublin and their daughter, four year old Peggy, was born in Africa.
They also have a 'nurse domestic' living with them.

1911 Ireland Census - James Staunton and Margaret Tierney

James (45) and Maggie (38) are still living in the same house, neighbours to his brother John and her sister Ann (who also married). They now have three children - Thomas is now 10, John 9 and Mary Josephine is 6.

They say they are married for 19 years, have three children born alive and three children still alive. They would subsequently lose three babies before the birth of their final daughter Rita.

Honor, James mother, is 76 and still lives with the family as does their nephew James Tierney who is now 14.

The house is stone with a tile roof (somewhat uncommon but all the neighbouring houses bar one all have tile). Outside they have a stable, a dairy, a cow shed and a barn.

The house also holds five servants and one nurse.

1911 Irish Census - Henderson-Dunne Family

Samuel (27) and Edward (23) are both still living in the family home with Mary who is now 56.
Edward is a van driver and Samuel is a labourer. Mary doesn't list an occupation.
This census tells us she was married for 31 years and bore 6 children - of which 3 survived.

The family are living in a two room house in Delgany. I'm not sure where exactly - the census differentiates between 'Delgany' and 'Delgany Town'... the family living in the former. There appears to be a wide variation in this cluster of houses - in number of rooms, some with servants, some without...all have few or no outhouses.

In 1901 Mary Georgina Waller is married to an English man - Henry Annesley Coxwell-Rogers a County Inspector with the Royal Irish Constabulary. She has a four year old son, Norman and runs a 12 room house with three servants.

It's not revealed in the census but Mary is heavily pregnant with her second son.

1911 Irish Census

Mary is now living in the Royal Irish Constabulary depot in the Phoenix Park, Dublin. Her husband is not present but she lists herself as married and the mother of two children (with no deaths). The children can be found on the English Census - both are attending (different) boarding schools.

Her married younger brother Arthur Edmund De Warrenne Waller is visiting.

The house appears to be a separate building with 15 rooms and 10 windows in the front of the house. The house is only occupied by the Coxwell-Rogers family and Mary lists herself as the head. In a matter of weeks her husband Henry will die when he falls from his horse.

Census 1911 - Henderson-Farrell Family
Census 1911 - Henderson-Farrell Family

The family still live in Downs, Delgany. Patrick and Elizabeth are both alive. Patrick lists his occupation as Farm Labourer and Elizabeth as House Keeper.
Only one Henderson is still living with them - Samuel Henderson who is 22. Christopher Farrell, now 21, is still resident - both list their occupation as Farm Labourer.
Aside from the boys the only children still in the house are Bridget, (12) Catherine (10) and Margaret (7) - the offspring of this marriage.
All of the children can read and write.

Oddly enough Pat and Elizabeth tell the census taker (neither can write) they are married 23 years and have born 5 children, 4 of which are still alive.

It is an odd figure - it would bring us back to 1888 (they married in 1897) and would fall between the birth of Ben and Sam Henderson.

The five children born, four children alive also doesn't fit. Clearly the family have nine children together. If they were referencing the children born from their marriage we have three girls. The dead child may be Ben Henderson who died aged 17.
